Can I complete any orientation (including classroom instruction and reading policy and procedures) prior to receiving a nursing license, permit, or work authorization?

The ND Board of Nursing reaffirmed their position in April of 2026, as adopted in 2021 and reaffirmed in 2022, 2023, and 2024, that general orientation within a facility may be completed prior to obtaining a nursing license, permit, or work authorization. General orientation is considered the same orientation that all facility employees receive and is not specific to nursing practice.
