Published On: October 1, 2026Categories: News

Online renewal is now available for nurses with North Dakota licenses expiring 12/31/2026.

How to Renew Your License

  1. Log in to your Nurse Portal account.

  2. Click the renewal link next to your active license in the “Your Licenses in North Dakota” section.

Combined RN/APRN Renewal

Nurses holding both an RN and APRN license in North Dakota have the option to submit a “combined” renewal application — an easy and convenient way to renew your North Dakota licenses.

Important Notice If You Have Relocated Outside North Dakota

If you have moved out of North Dakota you are no longer eligible to hold a ND multistate license. You must apply for and receive a license from your new home state. Visit the “Other Applications” section in the Nurse Portal and submit a “LPN / RN Multistate Conversion” application.

Helpful Tips

  • APRNs wishing to NOT renew their RX authority should contact NDBON at renewal@ndbon.org prior to submitting a renewal application.
  • If you do not wish to renew your North Dakota nursing license, no action is required. Your license will automatically expire January 1, 2027.
  • Failure to receive a renewal notice does not relieve a nurse of the obligation to renew his/her license before the expiration date (NDAC 54-02-05-02).
