State Approval
All prelicensure nursing education programs in North Dakota must meet the law and rule requirements for nursing education programs and be approved by the North Dakota Board of Nursing.

National Accreditation
A North Dakota State Board of Nursing approved prelicensure nursing education program may voluntarily apply for regional or national accreditation. Standards for national accreditation are established by the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and the Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA).

National Recognition
The North Dakota Board of Nursing is nationally recognized as the State approval agency for nurse education in North Dakota by the United States Department of Education.
