The North Dakota Board of Nursing is excited to announce that our new licensing system is live. You will need to create your Nurse Portal account in order to renew your license. Click the "Nurse Portal" button in our navigation bar to access the portal. To learn more, visit our renewal announcement at: https://www.ndbon.org/article.asp?id=196
The retest application is only for individuals who have previously applied for license by exam in North Dakota and need to retake the exam.
Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC): If you have moved to another NLC state as your Primary State of Residence (PSROR) since your last NCLEX attempt, you are required to apply for licensure in your new PSOR.
Please Note: Work authorizations are not issued for retesting. You are no longer able to practice as a graduate registered or practical nurse once you have failed the NCLEX licensing examination.
If you are required to complete a Criminal History Record Check (per item 1a & b above), instructions for the CHRC can be found at https://www.ndbon.org/NurseLicensure/CHRC/Index.asp. Please read and follow these instructions carefully.
When you have completed the registration process with Pearson VUE and have submitted the online retest application, your application will be reviewed and when approved by the ND Board of Nursing, you will be deemed eligible to test. Pearson Vue will then e-mail you an Authorization to Test (ATT) to the email address you have on file with them.
If you have any address changes after completing this application, make sure to complete an Address Change on the Nurse Portal under Other Applications.
